Due to ongoing concerns caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, and for the health and safety of the unmanned aviation community, we have made the decision to host the 5th Annual FAA UAS Symposium virtually instead of in-person in Baltimore.
Recognizing the value of this symposium to driving engagement between the commercial UAS industry and the FAA, we are confirming a series of virtual events that will address the important content already planned for this year’s program.
The first episode will take place in early summer (July 8-9) with a focus on UTM and international UAS integration. The second episode will take place in late summer (August 18-19) with a focus on updates to the Integration Pilot Program (IPP) and public safety operations. Additional details will be shared with the community as soon as they are finalized.
As we work to shift how we gather this year, we also acknowledge and applaud the many first responders, remote pilots, and commercial partners who are safely using UAS to respond to this crisis, as well as the manufacturers who have shifted their capacity to support production of critical personal protective equipment.
If you have any immediate questions, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to find a path forward for the symposium
Event Update: May 8, 2020
Due to ongoing concerns caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, and since everyone’s health, wellbeing and safety are our highest priority, we are carefully reviewing and evaluating several options for the 5th Annual FAA UAS Symposium. Within this context and as part of our due diligence process, we are considering and evaluating all relevant legal and logistical matters associated with the 5th Annual FAA UAS Symposium. We are proceeding in the most expedient and efficient way possible under the circumstances in order to preserve the integrity of AUVSI and the FAA, protect our attendees’ wellbeing and find an amicable resolution with our event partners in Baltimore. We greatly appreciate your continued patience and ongoing support as we work diligently to resolve these outstanding issues.
Further, we fully understand that your personal needs and timetables for decision making as it pertains to attending the 5th Annual FAA UAS Symposium in-person may be different than those of AUVSI or the FAA in this instance. To address the in-person attendance concerns, AUVSI and the FAA are currently exploring the viability of conducting a web based “virtual conference” component for those individuals who are unable to travel or are otherwise prevented from attending the 5th Annual FAA UAS Symposium in-person. Knowing that time is of the essence, we fully respect any decisions you need to make both individually and on behalf of your own organization. As soon as a decision is made regarding a virtual component, we will provide an update.
