During a recorded commencement address on 11 June 2020 for the National Defense University, U.S. Army General Mark A. Milley, 20th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff apologized for his action last Monday, when he appeared with President Donal Trump during a protest in Washington DC.
In the announcement — here on youtube — JCS Chairman General Miller said:
“I should not have been there. My presence in that moment and in that environment created a perception of the military involved in domestic politics. As a commissioned uniformed officer, it was a mistake that I have learned from, and I sincerely hope we all can learn from it.”
